Hollywood & Slime: John Travolta's complicated coif

It???s June, the fabled month for brides. And so a very pregnant Drew Barrymore, making her third and most credible trip down the aisle, got married to art world beau Will Kopelman last weekend, wearing custom-made maternity Chanel in a traditional Jewish ceremony at her home. Cameron Diaz offered a wedding reading, direct from her lines in the film version of delightful author Jennifer Weiner???s page to screen romantic book ???In Her Shoes.??? It???s the e.e. cummings screed, ???I Carry Your Heart With Me.??? For all you sentimental, romantical and poetic Beltway lovers, we post it here:

???I carry your heart with me (I carry it in??? my heart)
I am never without it (anywhere ???I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done??? by only me is your doing, my darling)???I fear??? no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet )
I want??? no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)???and it???s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you here is the deepest secret nobody knows???(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud??? and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
which grows ???higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that???s keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)

Mazel Tov, kids.

She???s just 14, but Paris Jackson, the daughter of the late king of pop, sure seemed lovely and well-adjusted as she sat down for a grown-up interview with Oprah Winfrey. Amazing poise, good manners, obviously loved her father, Michael, and knew he had her best interests at heart in their huge celebrity glare. And what gorgeous eyes.  Yow, she???s growing into a very natural beauty. Check part of the interview out here.

John Travolta???s appearance at an AFI tribute to actress Shirley McLaine this week came with one odd, if not garish, hairline that didn???t look like it grows in nature. Nearly painted on or sculpted. He???s had a rough few months, so no wonder his coif is complicated.

John Mayer, whose latest record has total staying power on the charts, tells Rolling Stone he was humiliated after country superstar Taylor Swift penned a song about him called ???Dear John.??? Somewhere, the karma gods smile. But contrite John says he didn???t deserve it, attacking his former date. “[“Dear John” is] cheap songwriting. It’s abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, ‘Wait til he gets a load of this!’ he recoiled. ???It really humiliated me at a time when I’d already been dressed down.  I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you’ve ever been, someone kicked you even lower?”  #teamtaylor

Speaking of Mayer babes, Jessica Simpson, whom Mr. Mayer once casually dubbed ???sexual napalm??? in a media interview, is the new Weight Watchers spokes-dieter. She???s seeking a lifestyle shift after giving birth to daughter Maxwell. She???s also hoping to look camera ready for her upcoming wedding to football fiancé Eric Johnson. Man, wouldn???t we all love to be paid to lose the pounds. #tresjealous

The Kardashian sisters, a well-kept trio, are launching a make-up line. OMG. What took them so long? Certainly they are experts in this area. And their mother is a marketing genius.

Kate Middleton, duchess, Brit wife, fashion???s newest It girl, reportedly wore $75 earrings during the Queen???s Diamond Jubilee festivities last week. With the current global economic climate, we think she hits just the right note in our new age of austerity.  You can look divine at any price point nearly. You just can.  Love her. Somewhere Princess Diana smiles.

Long-legged songster Miley Cyrus is engaged. She???s 19. That???s gonna work out. We???re sure of it.

Singer Nancy Sinatra, spawn of swingin??? Frank, turned 72. Pretty soon those boots are going to walk to the nursing home. Man, we feel old.  Here???s Nancy turning up some mod heat in 1966.  And here is the aforementioned Miss Simpson, in slimmer days, modernizing the Sinatra classic.

TV interview scion Barbara Waters got into some ethical hot water after her attempts to help a beautiful Assad aide, Sheherazad Jaafari ??? and the daughter of the Syrian ambassador to the U.S. ??? find work at CNN or get accepted to grad school at Columbia University.  (She has been.) The View host has since apologized publicly. The tale is chronicled by the New York Post here:

Young Hollywood got some serious face time with the POTUS this week, meeting at the Beverly Hilton hotel where the prez chatted up the politically savvy likes of Jared Leto, Zach Braff, Sophia Bush and Dianna Agron, to name a few. Wonder how many of those pampered and well-paid kids are actually registered to vote? Some intrepid D.C. journo with too much time on his hands should look it up.

Watch your back Sarah Steelman, a Republican Senate candidate running against incumbent Claire McCaskill in Missouri. Miss Steelman, in her campaign fundraising appeals, takes on her opponent???s ties to Hollywood???s liberal elites, noting that well-knowns Steven Spielberg, Kate Capshaw, Susan Sarandon and Danny DeVito have contributed close to $50,000 to her Democratic challenger, the Hollywood Reports notes.

???My friend, make no mistake, this race is between the conservative Heartland values that you and I share and the distorted ethics of the Hollywood crowd… trying to hijack this Senate Seat ??? and that???s no exaggeration!” Steelman wrote.  Perhaps some of Tinseltown???s deep-pocketed (if not closeted) conservatives will come to her rescue and match those contributions to support her race. Her letter is here.

Will there be a Top Gun 2? We hope so. We remain infatuated by that flick and yes, we???ve still ???got a need for speed.??? Our fantasy script would put the now-seaoned and fearless flyers in Pakistan and Afghanistan on a mission called ???Operation Stone Age.???  In the meantime, Tom Cruise looks awfully nice half naked (Alec Baldwin in a wig, not so much) in this cool clip from the forthcoming and much-anticipated musical movie ???Rock of Ages.???
