The GOP debates are showcasing two different ways on what to do about China. Mitt Romney said he’d impose heavy tariffs on the Chinese for manipulating their currency to lower their prices artificially. Romney insists we’re in a trade war with China already, and that we’re losing. On the other hand, the former Utah governor, Jon Huntsman, argues that labeling China an enemy would only destabilize an already shaky relationship, and the real pathway forward is through more trading.
