Early Primary Schedule Set

With New Hampshire Republicans declaring that the state’s primary date, the early schedule is now set. New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner was instrumental in his state’s fight to secure the first-in-nation primary status, which was threatened by Nevada possibly moving its primary date up.

The fight between New Hampshire and Nevada came to a head just before the recent Republican debate in Las Vegas, Nevada. Some candidates, like former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, condemned the Nevada shenanigans, and one candidate, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman actually boycotted the debate.

Huntsman’s boycott was of special importance because success in New Hampshire is critical to getting his campaign off the ground. Standing with the state could help him eat into former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s sizable polling lead in the state.

Here is the full early primary schedule:

Iowa- January 3

New Hampshire- January 10

South Carolina- January 21

Florida- January 31

Nevada- February 4
