Presidential candidate and businessman Herman Cain will go on a “Common Sense Solutions” bus tour throughout Iowa in the week leading up to the Fox News debate on August 11 and the Ames Straw Poll on August 13.
“After 24 visits to the great state of Iowa, I have enjoyed getting to know the people, listening to their ideas and sharing with them my common sense solutions for America,” Cain said in a statement. “I hope to see the thousands of friends I’ve made throughout my many visits during this bus tour, at the FOX News debate and at the straw poll in Ames.”
Cain will arrive in Iowa next week in West Des Moines on August 4 and embark on his bus tour begnning August 8.
Cain has a record of turning businesses around that many thought were doomed. This record gives him the credibility to argue that he can turn the country’s economy around. His private sector experience contrasts him with President Obama and some other Republican candidates in the field.
In addition, Cain also speaks the language of the Tea Party.
These are a few of the reasons why Cain has consistently led the field of GOP candidates in Gallup’s “positive intensity” index, which measures how much a candidate is liked once voters get to know the candidate. In the most recent survey released today, Cain has a positive intensity score of 27. The next closest declared GOP contender has a positive intensity score of 18.
“We are pleased that for a 10th straight week, Mr. Cain has earned first place in Gallup’s positive intensity rankings … I have always said: ‘Once people know Herman Cain, they like Herman Cain.'” Cain Communications Director Ellen Carmichael said. “His message of ‘common sense solutions,’ impeccable and unparalleled record of job creation and his story of truly achieving the American Dream is resonating with folks across the country who are looking for an honest approach to problem-solving.”
With the bus tour, Cain will hope that as more people see and hear him, his “positive intensity” score among Iowans will rise just in time for the Ames Straw Poll.
Said Carmichael: “We are confident in our position in Iowa. We recently opened our state headquarters there. We have significantly expanded our staff. We have enlisted the help of thousands of volunteers. Mr. Cain continues to enjoy sold out crowds every time he visits.”
Carmichael also said “the intensity and excitement about Mr. Cain’s candidacy is not only widespread, but is also concentrated in the ‘first in the nation caucus’ state of Iowa” and “the bus tour will give us an opportunity to see many friendly and familiar faces, as well as visit new parts of the state.”
“We are ready for both the Ames straw poll and the FOX News debate and look forward to returning to Iowa for extensive campaigning,” Carmichael added.
A strong showing at the Straw Poll will give Cain’s campaign the type of momentum he got after his strong showing in the South Carolina presidential debate.
