Change: Obama Now Less Popular Than Ahmadinejad in Arab World

Two and a half years into his failed presidency and Barack Obama has already hit rock bottom, and taken America’s image down with him. Looks like that Muslim outreach, endless speeches and pandering to the Arab world has really reaped dividends.

The United States is viewed less favorably in much of the Arab world today than it was during the final year of the Bush administration, and President Obama is less popular in the region that Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, according to a poll released today (WED) by the Arab American Institute, a nonpartisan research and advocacy group.

Just imagine, he’s actually less popular than the deranged psychopath Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, an unstable tyrant eager to wipe Israel off the map. Who knows, maybe he’s not bowing enough.

But the current poll is striking in that is illustrates how far Obama’s favorability has fallen in the region, after an initial optimistic spike when he took office.

“It’s because expectations were created that were not met,” Zogby said.

So let’s see. He was going to stop the ocean levels from rising, high unemployment would be a thing of the past and the world was going to love us again, all a result of the sheer magnetism of his personality and dazzling intellect. Why, he was the one we were all waiting for!

In 2008, the final year of the Bush administration, only nine percent of Egyptians had a favorable attitude towards the United States. A year later, after Obama took office, that number jumped to 30 percent. But now it has plummeted to just five percent of Egyptians who view the United States favorably.

Geez, even the Muslim Brotherhood hates the guy. Well, so much for taking credit for that so-called Arab Spring.

In Egypt and Jordan, only three percent of people polled said they agreed with Obama’s policies in the region, compared to 31 percent and 20 percent who said they agreed with the Iranian president’s.

Of course, as with any of Obama’s many failures, it’s not his fault. It’s those pesky Israelis messing things up for him. No wonder he despises them so much.

Zogby said he spoke briefly with Obama a month ago about the poll and that the president said he expected the numbers to be low, given the impasse on the Israeli-Palestinian problem.

George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton before him, and the elder Bush before him, and Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter all dealt with the “Israeli-Palestinian problem,” yet I don’t recall them blaming it for any image problem. But Obama, the so-called “adult in the room” who rises above conflcts and finds peaceful solutions to everything? Why, it’s their fault, never his.

Obama should be thankful for one thing: He’s still got 98% of the media in his back pocket. Otherwise his doemstic approval would likely mirror these abysmal results. So don’t expect this to receive any notice from his boys at MSNBC.
