Mitt Romney‘s first major ad shows that he is going to focus heavily on what his campaign will think is his strongest suit — his ability to be the manager who gets the country out of the economic recession. The optics of the video, which has Americans from one various backgrounds looking intothe camera and saying they are not a bump in the road, in reference to comments President Obama made about the economy, works well optically. Romney does well with college educated voters, but his weaknesses are with those who have probably been hit hardest by the economic downturn. This video is a good first step in beginning a conversation with a group of voters who may not be warm to him now while also not alienating the professional class types that are more inclined toward his candidacy.
