Spiking the Football, Day 17

For a man who famously declared he didn’t want to “spike the football” in the wake of vanquishing Osama bin Laden, Barack Obama sure looks like he’s about to be flagged 15 yards for  excessive celebration.

President Obama will pay a visit to CIA headquarters in Langley, Va. on Friday to thank the intelligence community for its role in finding and killing Osama bin Laden.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters aboard Air Force One Wednesday that Obama personally made the decision to visit the facility, his second such visit as president.

Wow, he personally made a decision by himself? Now that’s a gutsy call on his part.

I thought the pomp and circumstance was concluded after he visited Ground Zero on May 5 for a choreographed event. I guess he’s realized his post-bin Laden bounce has evaporated and it’s time to squeeze every last drop from it now. He’ll still be congratulating himself on May 20.

How much longer will this go on?
