Gingrich Officially Announces Presidential Bid On Twitter

With a single tweet on the social networking site Twitter, Newt Gingrich officially became the first presidential candidate to officially announce his candidacy for the Presidency on the popular social networking site.

Gingrich, who amassed hundreds of thousands of followers on Twitter years before the social networking site and medium took off, referred his followers to this video on his website. Gingrich now boasts over 1.3 million followers on Twitter.

Gingrich will be formally interviewed by Fox News’ Sean Hannity tonight at 9 p.m.

He will speak Friday at Georgia’s Republican Party Convention in what will presumably be his first public speech as an official presidential candidate.
