Wisconsin Budget Bill Passes State Assembly

The Wisconsin budget repair bill has been passed by the state Assembly, by a vote of 53-42.

As recounted on CNN’s “This Just In” blog, part of the Assembly’s deliberations included a recounting of death threats made by union supporters against Republican representatives.  The police spent part of the afternoon dragging protesters out of the Capitol building.

Strangely enough, most of the fugitive Wisconsin Democrats have decided to remain in their Illinois spider holes, because they think the Senate’s passage of the bill last night might have been illegal.  According to CNN, fugitive State Senator Kathleen Vinehout explained that “because the legality of the Senate’s move last night still has to be determined, she and other Senate Democrats still will stay away from Wisconsin because they don’t want to be forced to appear in the Senate to deal with the measure.”

The bill now passes to Governor Scott Walker’s desk for his signature.
