Planned Parenthood employees got caught giving underage-abortion advice to activists posing as sex traffickers and the liberal newsmakers went nuts.
What’s the message coming from the far Left media: Republicans want women and children to die, quickly.
Indeed, the pro-Roe v. Wade-spin has already begun. One Huffington Post headline cries, “A War on Women.” (Oh no!)
The Politico reports, “Mike Pence’s War on Planned Parenthood.” (Bombs away.)
And the Seattle Times proclaims, “Republicans Focus Attack on Planned Parenthood.”
Indeed, the American Left holds few progressive relics in such high esteem as a woman’s “right” to “choose.” But why should taxpayers foot the bill?
In fact, a 2009 Gallup Poll found that 51% of Americans self-identify as pro-life. Again, why should half the country have to subsidize a life-ending procedure it doesn’t support?
While some argue that denying federal grants will reduce funding for counseling services, HIV testing, and other reproductive health and family planning services, abortion services, and not the former, are in Planned Parenthood’s best fiscal interest.
To be clear, in 1997, the embattled abortion provider received $165 million from taxpayers and performed 165,174 abortions. It performed 289,750 abortions in 2006, 305,310 in 2007, and received $363 million and performed 324,008 abortions in calendar year 2010, according to a Planned Parenthood fact sheet.
Noticing a pattern yet?
As taxpayer funding increased, so did the number of these abhorrent procedures.
Also, according to the Daily Caller, the number of prenatal clients Planned Parenthood served was less than 0.09 percent of the total services it provided in 2008. Pregnant women seeking help from Planned Parenthood were 27 times more likely to receive an abortion than to receive prenatal care or be referred for adoption.
Appalling still, 70% of these abortion factories are concentrated in minority neighborhoods. Black childbearing women make up just 3% of the population but a heartbreaking 30% of abortions. Hispanic women make up another 25%.
In 1971, well-known eugenicist Frederick Osborn proclaimed, “Birth control and abortion are proving to be the great eugenics advances of our time.”
It seems that just as we blacks began to get off the proverbial seat at the back of the bus, a new one was being prepared for us at a Planned Parenthood facility.
Now we have action from Indiana GOP Rep. Mike Pence, who is leading the legislative charge to defund Planned Parenthood. Pence has proposed the “Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act,” which would close any loopholes and block funds provided under Title X from subsidizing entities that perform or provide funds to another entity that performs abortions.
And presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee took a staunch pro-life stance at a recent fund-raiser by stating that the “abortion issue trumps all.”
(Can you believe the nerve of these race-batting Republicans?)
Pence shouldn’t bother looking across the aisle for support. In the Republican landslide election last year, the Planned Parent Action Fund endorsed 232 candidates, and 232 were Democrats. It seems these people intended to ignore what made sense morally to fight for what could gain them power politically.
(So much for bipartisanship.)
It is mind-boggling to no end to see these so-called purveyors of unremitting compassion, fighting for the “most vulnerable among us,” turn out to be the biggest defenders of publicly funded abortion-on-demand.
As our country falls into a fiscal abyss, the ultimate bankruptcy won’t be an America drowning in debt, but one that turns a blind eye to the daily destruction of human life, plunging into the moral abyss.
