The Spider Hole Party

Concerned Wisconsin Democrat voters, rejoice!  Your party has been located.  It turns out they’re hiding at the Best Western Clock Tower Resort in Rockford, Illinois.  As spider holes go, it’s not too shabby.

According to its Web site, the resort offers guests “newly renovated guest rooms with upgraded bedding packages, complimentary high speed internet and an array of leisure and meeting amenities and attractions.”  Fugitive Democrats will be able to enjoy “a variety of hot spots throughout the resort from indoor and outdoor pools, fitness center and tennis courts, CoCo Key Water Resort, the Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery, Totally You Hair Salon, and Sun Dial restaurant and lounge.”

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is not amused.  “Democracy doesn’t come by hiding out in another state,” he told Greta Van Susteren of Fox News.  “I made a personal appeal for all the senators to come back.”  In an earlier statement, he said the actions of the Wisconsin Democrats were “disrespectful to the hundreds of thousands of public employees who showed up to work today and the millions of taxpayers they represent.”

Meanwhile, parents in Madison, Wisconsin enjoyed Day Three of the unions’ innovative home-schooling program, as teachers once again left their students to rot while they marched around the Capitol with idiotic signs.  Some of these signs are extremely hateful, and even violent in nature, the sort of thing New York Times editors fantasize about Tea Party activists carrying.  One shows a photo of Governor Walker with a crosshairs on his face.  Another describes his budget proposals as “rape.”  Comparisons of Walker to Hitler, Mussolini, and deposed Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak are plentiful.

According to ABC News station WISN in Madison, nine of the leftist protesters have been arrested.  One of them apparently tried to make a forced entry into the state assembly chamber.  Has your favorite national news network reported the violence yet?  Don’t worry, there will probably be more.  AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka, who has a history of organizing violence to achieve union goals, is on his way to Madison with reinforcements.

Democrats have acted to nationalize the Madison standoff.  A Democrat Party official in Washington admitted to Fox News that Organizing for America, which grew out of Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign operation, has been “filling buses and building turnout for the rallies this week in Madison, organizing 15 rapid response phone banks urging supporters to call their state legislators, and working on planning and producing rallies.”

President Obama has made it clear he takes the side of union agitators over taxpayers, blasting Governor Walker in White House interviews.  “Some of what I’ve heard coming out of Wisconsin, where you’re just making it harder for public employees to collectively bargain generally seems like more of an assault on unions,” the President opined.  “And I think it’s very important for us to understand that public employees, they’re our neighbors, they’re our friends.”

The “assault on unions” he’s talking about consists of asking them to pitch in and cover “one-half of their pension costs and 12.6 percent of their health benefits,” as Larry Kudlow explains in National Review Online.  Also, “Exempting police, fire, and state troopers, Governor Walker would end collective bargaining for the rest. Unions could still represent workers, but could not get pay increases above the CPI. Nor could they force employees to pay dues. And in exchange for this, Walker promises no furloughs for layoffs.”  In other words, Walker wants to dismantle the political mechanisms that built public union benefit plans up to such unbearable levels.

“The President is actively weighing in on the side of the greedy – there is no other word for them – union bosses who refuse to relinquish what years of cozy relations with irresponsible politicians have dropped into their laps,” writes Jennifer Rubin at the Washington Post.  “That presidential obtuseness should serve as a wakeup call to the country.”

It will indeed serve that purpose.  The Spider Hole Party will regret escalating this into a national crisis, because it highlights their greed, and their total abrogation of duty.  Wisconsin Democrats hiding in Illinois is really no different than Barack Obama dropping an absurd and delusional budget on Congress.  Both are the actions of a Party that has run completely out of ideas, and has no clue how to deal with the collapse of the unsustainable system they have built over the past few decades.  They’ve retreated to animal instincts, screaming for even more spending, and snarling in rage when any of their hoarded loot is threatened.

Americans are getting a long look at the ugly face of public unions and their Democrat foot soldiers this week.  Both in Washington, and around the nation, they are recoiling in horror.  The President might want to check with the Clock Tower Resort and make sure they still have a couple of vacancies.
