Sarah Palin Headlines Reagan 100 Celebration

 

Young America’s Foundation will hold a banquet at the opening of the Reagan Ranch Center in Santa Barbara, California, on February 4th, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s birth.  Today they announced the keynote speaker would be Sarah Palin, the GOP vice-presidential candidate from 2008, and former governor of Alaska.

Governor Palin said she was “very excited” to receive the invitation.  “Young America’s Foundation has been sharing the values of President Reagan with young people for more than 40 years, and there is no organization more committed to preserving freedom’s future,” she added. 

Her presentation will include reflections on Reagan’s great “Time for Choosing” speech, in which he asked “whether we believe in our capacity for self-government, or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capitol can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.”

Young America’s Foundation President Ron Robinson said today, “We are honored that a great champion of freedom, Governor Palin has chosen to join in our Reagan 100 celebrations.  We can think of no one more fitting to honor our time’s greatest defender of freedom, Ronald Reagan.  Governor Palin understands that freedom in our nation now stands on the precipice.  She knows what Ronald Reagan knew: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction,” and that the key to its preservation is young people.  We’re thrilled that she is going to be with us to honor President Reagan’s timeless contributions, and to inspire the leaders of tomorrow.”

Former Vice President Dick Cheney will also headline the Reagan 100 event, which will run from January 31 to February 4 at the Reagan Ranch, and include presentations from a constellation of conservative authors and scholars.
