7. Florida Voters Realize Charlie Crist is an Orange Opportunist
You cannot parody the Obama Administration. China forcibly hauls women into vans to forcibly perform abortions, sends people to gulags, kills dissidents, etc., etc., etc. All of that apparently pales in comparison to Arizona. Yes, the Obama Administration is apologizing to China for Arizona’s existence. Please click here for the rest of the post.
Before we go any further: no, this is not a surprise to everyone. The Right was calling it health care rationing for a reason. Please click here for the rest of the post.
Before hearings even start on Elena Kagan, Jon Kyl is declaring surrender. The number two Republican in the Senate says the GOP will not filibuster Kagan. Why give up the card early? Why signal to the base that there will be no fight? Please click here for the rest of the post.
William F. Buckley famously quipped that he “would rather be governed by the first 2,000 names in the Boston telephone directory than by the 2,000 members of the Harvard faculty.” Well, what if we were to be governed by – er, um, I mean – what if we were to have on the Supreme Court Miss Oklahoma 2010 instead of the President’s choice, Elena Kagan? Would it be better or worse? Well, if one subscribes to Mr. Buckley’s rule above – as I do – then one might be skeptical of the “down to earth views” of a former Dean of Harvard Law School / Chicago Law Professor – so let’s give the nod to Miss Oklahoma. Neither, to my knowledge, has ever served as a Judge. Tie goes to Miss Oklahoma. Ms. Kagan has served as Solicitor General. Nod to Ms. Kagan. Neither has written extensively about issues of importance to give one a significant body of work from which to determine her view on the Constitution – but Miss Oklahoma has never written an ode to socialism among other leftist thoughts, so Miss Oklahoma gets the nod. Then yesterday, when questioned by judge Oscar Nunez (of The Office fame) about the recent Arizona immigration law, Miss Oklahoma responded . . . Please click here for the rest of the post.
Nancy Pelosi spoke at the Asian American and Pacific Islanders Summit on Capitol Hill last Friday, informing them that because of the new health care reform, they would no longer be “job locked.” Here’s the quote: “We see it as an entrepreneurial bill,” Pelosi said, “a bill that says to someone, if you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever, you can leave your work, focus on your talent, your skill, your passion, your aspirations because you will have health care.” That’s right. Did you know that you could just… not work? Please click here for the rest of the post.
It turns out that Tim Bridgewater — the Utah Republican running for U.S. Senate against conservative Mike Lee — tried to bribe another candidate for her endorsement at the Utah State Nominating Convention. According to Cherilyn Eagar, Bridgewater offered to pay off her campaign debt IF she would endorse him before the final ballots were cast at the convention. Eagar is going out of her way to try to smooth this over to keep Bridgewater out of trouble, but the fact is it was a very sleazy move. Please click here for the rest of the post.
A couple of weeks have passed since Charlie Crist abandoned the GOP to run as an independent. The orange man moved his campaign into a lingerie shop and started renouncing his allegedly long held positions on life, education reform, etc. And guess what? He is now nosediving in the polls. You know the old saying about religion and politics? Well, sometimes the twain do meet… Never mind that today’s unions rake in roughly thirteen billion dollars a year from workers (the majority of whom are forced to pay the union or be fired from their jobs); and never mind the history of violence and union corruption; and never mind the desire to eliminate secret-ballots or the buying of politicians, or the sheer hypocrisy… According to a group of Catholic scholars, there’s going to be a lot of us heading South..
