Over the weekend former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton joined more than 90,000 Americans in signing HUMAN EVENTS’ and RedState.com’s petition urging Attorney General Eric Hold to move 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed and his cohorts trials from New York City to a military tribunal.
Bolton spoke out early against Holder’s decision to try KSM in a civilian court telling radio talk show host Melanie Morgan (Washington Times Radio) he would move his family out of New York City during the trial for fear of their safety.
“This is part of the callousness and the really, lack of professionalism and judgment to put them on trial anywhere in the United States in civilian courts. It’s a major strategic blunder” said Bolton.
“It will give Khalid Sheik Mohammad and his co-defendants an opportunity, a la Joseph Stalin, to put on their own show trial in New York. This time it won’t be the prosecution conducting the show trial, it will be the defense. Again, it shows the administration is not serious about the war on terrorism. It’s a pre-9/11 law enforcement paradigm rather than the paradigm of a global war on terrorism which I think the Bush administration correctly adopted with near-unanimous support in this country after 9/11.”
HUMAN EVENTS’ petition is still growing quickly at a rate of nearly 10 thousand signers per day since starting just January 6.
