Former Mississippi Republican Sen. Trent Lott has got to be shaking his head and muttering to himself. And Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is surely thinking that those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw rocks.
As you may recall, Sen. Lott — then Majority Leader — was roundly castigated for what some believed were racist comments that Lott made at the 100th birthday party of former Sen. Strom Thurmond back in 2002. Lott said that if Strom Thurmond had been elected president, the nation might have avoided a lot of problems it went through in the intervening years. Thurmond was a segregationist when he ran, but — and this is the kicker — Thurmond abandoned segregationism long before many of the Democrats he served in the Senate with did.
After being besieged by the media and the Democrats, Lott resigned his leadership post.
And what you may not recall is that Sen. Reid led the charge against Lott to resign his leadership role in the senate.
Of course, the Democratic Racist Brigade was out for blood. The Chief Priest of Racism, Jesse Jackson, called Lott’s comments "racist" and that he should resign, and then senator and now International Global Warming Fraud Al Gore called Lott’s statements "racist."
The media’s negative coverage of Lott’s comments was relentless and one-sided. Wouldn’t it be fascinating to know what then Illinois State Sen. Obama had to say about Lott’s comments?
In a forthcoming book about the 2008 presidential campaign, Reid is quoted as describing Obama as "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one." As you may recall, our Vice President, Joe “Say It Ain’t So” Biden, basically said the same thing about Obama.
Reid has now apologized for his own dumb comments and President Obama has quickly accepted. Imagine that.
But where is the hue and cry for censure, for Reid to resign? Oh, wait a second. I get it. There won’t be a hue and cry because Reid is a Democrat.
Master Racists Jackson and Al-Not-So-Sharpton will avoid this issue because Reid is a Democrat, which means you get an automatic free pass for making dumb comments. However, had Reid been a Republican and made these dumb comments about Obama, Jackson and Sharpton would have called for marches, demanded he resign, been on all the talk shows, declared how America is still deeply divided and racist, and demanded new suits and per diem increases. Jackson and Sharpton continue to be two-bit, racist punks on parade.
Racism is alive in America for sure — in the Democratic Party. Now whether or not you believe Reid’s comments are racist or not, what is clearly and abundantly racist are the policies of the Democratic Party that for the last 50 years that have decimated black America. That’s the biggest story on racism to have never been told, but don’t hold your breath waiting for the major media to report on the Democrat’s systematic policies to stick a knife in the back of black America while at the same time telling black Americans that Republicans are vile, racists.
Reid’s comments will largely be brushed aside by the major media as much ado about nothing. However, the blogosphere, talk radio, tweets, and other non-traditional information outlets will serve to remind Americans of Reid’s, Jackson’s, Gore’s and the major media’s assault on Lott and encourage them to hold Reid to the same standards that they held Lott back in 2002.
There is justice, however. Reid is getting his political clock cleaned in the polls. In his efforts to save his senate seat, Reid is down by as much as ten points to Sue Lowden, the former Nevada state Republican Party chairwoman, and eight points behind Danny Tarkanian, former UNLV basketball star and now a businessman.
What his own party, the media and others won’t do to Reid for his dumb comments, the Nevada voters are licking their chops to toss Reid out of office this November because Reid is bad for Nevada and even worse for America.
As the Czar of genuine Motorcity soulbrother black guitar beats my bad self, I know the embers of racism will finally be extinguished when Americans realize the disastrous effects the policies of the Democrats have had on black Americans.
We can finally reach the promised land by voting out these racists this November. In the words of Dr. King, we can gleefully shout, "Free at last! Thank God Almighty we are free at last!"
