What Other 2012 Candidates Will Stand With Conservatives?

RedState Morning Briefing
For October 27, 2009

1. Conservatives Maintain Edge as Top Ideological Group

"Conservatives continue to outnumber moderates and liberals in the American populace in 2009, confirming a finding that Gallup first noted in June." I hope the RNC, GOP, NRSC, NRCC, etc. are paying attention to this. As I have noted repeatedly, data from the 2008 exit polling showed that more people considered themselves “conservative” than “liberal.” This new Gallup poll is in accord with that. 2. Hoffman Now First

Yesterday in the Politico, the NRCC said Doug Hoffman had “no path to victory” in New York’s 23rd Congressional District. Well, guess what. According to a new poll commissioned by the Club for Growth Doug Hoffman is in first place. Here’s the thing: it is only 300 people surveyed with a 5% margin of error. What the poll tells us for certain and very reliably is that this is a two man race between Owens, the Democrat, and Hoffman, the Conservative. Dede Scozzafava is in third place with no base of support to get her up. Please click here for the rest of the post.

3. What Other 2012 Candidates Will Stand With Conservatives?

There is still time for potential 2012 candidates to stand with Republican voters and the conservative base against the Inside the Beltway Establishment keen on abandoning principles for ACORN supported candidates. Tim Pawlenty and Sarah Palin, both talked about as 2012 candidates, have stood with the base. If candidates step up before noon Wednesday, we should applaud them for their help. An endorsement by that time can still have a meaningful, positive impact on Doug Hoffman’s candidacy. But know this: waiting until after noon on Wednesday is a clear indication that the candidate is endorsing for show, and not really to help. We in the conservative movement want leaders who will stand with us, not suck up to us. Sarah Palin and Tim Pawlenty are breaking with the party at a key moment. 4. Alan Grayson Calls Female Advisor To Bernanke A “Whore”

Like many Americans, you may not have heard of Congressman Alan Grayson (D-FL) before he claimed that Republicans, because they oppose government-rationed health care, want sick people to “die quickly.” Not only did Grayson refuse to apologize for this nonsense, he has been raising money hand over fist from left-wingers who place a high value on making the health care debate nastier and more partisan. Although Grayson, who employs left-wing hateblogger Matt Stoller, did finally have to apologize to the Anti-Defamation League when he compared the GOP’s position on health care to the Holocaust, as a general rule, he is following the path of a child who gets rewarded for acting up: more bad behavior with the expectation of more cookies. Which brings us to him calling Linda Robertson, a senior advisor to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, a “whore”. Please click here for the rest of the post.

5. Politico: Even Democrats Think Grayson “one fry short of a Happy Meal”

Politico, noting the bipartisan fallout over Alan Grayson calling female Fed advisor Lisa Robertson a “whore,” finds even liberal blue-state Democrats scornful of the loose-cannon Florida Dem. Read the whole thing, which also addresses Grayson’s improper promotion of a website on the House floor that had links to his campaign fundraising site. Floridians must be so proud of a Democrat who embarrasses even Democrats from New York City and Maryland. Please click here for the rest of the post.

6. West Virginian Democrats shocked at War on Coal.

They’re particularly indignant that the President that so many of them supported has decided to let the EPA strangle their state’s core industry via the selective refusal of permits. Which is not surprising, given that this administration’s hatred of the coal industry was not precisely a secret – but still, they’re upset. The current ruling party’s elites do not want to increase the amount of energy that this country consumes. They want to decrease it, in fact. They are not shy about saying so, either. 7. Obama plays golf instead of deciding whether to send more troops to Afghanistan

Obama spent the day golfing instead of making his long awaited decision about sending more troops to Afghanistan. For weeks, President Obama has been indecisively dithering about whether to send more troops to Afghanistan to fight what he correctly calls a “war of necessity.” General Stanley A. McChrystal’s report, in which he requests more troops, was issued at the end of August. The Commander in Chief, taking political heat for not having enough women in his inner circle, found golf a more important political expediency than finally making the Afghan decision. There was so much heat that an article in the New York Times began, “Does the White House feel like a frat house?” Obama apparantly needed headlines proclaiming that he golfs with a woman, more than he needed to make the life and death decision as to whether he will send more troops in support of his “war of necessity.” General Stanley A. McChrystal’s report, in which he requests more troops, was issued at the end of August. Please click here for the rest of the post.
