From Rep. John Carter (R-TX): It’s time for Democrats to start issuing an apology or two of their own. They’ve spent the past week clamoring for Congressman Joe Wilson’s apology, even though the President has accepted his apology, twice now. While Democrats will not let up on Wilson, one person who needs to not just apologize, but step down, is Congressman Charlie Rangel. Revelations continue to show that he has ignored the country’s tax laws, which, as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, he is responsible for writing. The Congressman continues to show his disregard for the law, and he should apologize, in addition to stepping down from his chairman position. Please click here for the rest of the post.
In a nutshell, the Democrats lack enough moderates to pass H.R. 3200 with the government option and if they ditch the government option, the Democrats would lack enough liberals to pass it. Sucks to be them. Here is what the GOP is circulating. Please click here for the rest of the post.
Van Jones is also on the board of Free Press, and Free Press defended him and attacked Beck in a statement saying that “our leaders have a responsibility to condemn fear-mongering … and support a more diverse media system that provides alternative voices to the likes of Glenn Beck” and “calls on [the] Obama administration to resist extremism in the media.” So who is Free Press? It’s founder and president says that the media is a major impediment to socialist revolution. Free Press’s Founder and President is Robert McChesney. McChesney gave an interview about media reform to an online magazine called The Bullet, published by the Canadian Socialist Project. In that interview, he said that “unless you make significant changes in the media, it will be vastly more difficult to have a revolution”. Free Press, in turn, has worked with the Center for American Progress, whose Chairman also headed Barack Obama’s transition team, to prepare a paper suggesting that the "Fairness Doctrine" will not go far enough and, instead, the government should have a say in determining what talk radio should and should not talk about. I lay out the whole tangled web in detail here. Please click here for the rest of the post.

From Ken Cuccinelli: According to the Washington Post, the Obama Administration is pushing to transfer some of the terrorist detainees currently held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba into the Commonwealth of Virginia for trial in a U.S. federal criminal court. (See Daily Virginia Roundup, The Washington Post, 08/04/09; Security Worries in the Suburbs, The Washington Post, 03/25/09) The Post has speculated that these detainees may be tried in the federal courts in Alexandria. However, regardless of exactly where in Virginia these detainees end up, I am strongly opposed to the idea of bringing any of these terrorists into the Commonwealth, and even more strongly opposed to the very concept of using criminal prosecution to fight the War Against Terrorism. I believe this Administration plan, if implemented, would: ignore the benefit of using Guantanamo Bay; impede our conduct in that war; be cost-prohibitive to our government and physically dangerous to our citizenry; be largely ineffective in punishing these terrorists; and be totally unprecedented in U.S. history. And as Attorney General of Virginia, I promise that I will do all that I can to stop the Administration from implementing this plan. First of all . . . Please click here for the rest of the post.
Back in mid-August, Carly Fiorina announced the formation of her exploratory committee, Carly for California, as a prelude to announcing her formal candidacy for United States Senate. FEC rules require that if a candidate receives or spends $5000.00, the candidate must begin formal filings with the FEC as a candidate. Given Fiorina’s hire of big-money consultants like Hollywood-based Fred Davis, you’d think Carly for California would have burned through that limit in about twenty minutes. Certainly it’s amazing she’s let nearly a month lapse without an announcement. Heck, she’s not even on the list for a single appearance, guest suite, or conversation at the forthcoming California Republican Party convention on September 25th through 27th. What gives? Why the silence? The probable answer is that Carly Fiorina is finding it impossible to put together a campaign team. Let me explain. Please click here for the rest of the post.
Jobs, health care, energy, deficits, Afghanistan, the general war on terror – all these are things that Congress should be working on. Indeed, Democrats are endlessly telling us that whatever priority they have cooked up, must be passed right now! But when the Senate is actually scheduled to be in session – purportedly addressing your concerns – they are delaying official business to let Arlen Specter raise money for his re-election campaign? The U.N.’s International Panel on Climate Change and Climate Change scientists have waaaay too much invested in Anthropogenic Global Warming to walk away from it based on mere data. Data, for example, that demonstrates that despite the dire warnings of steadily increasing temperatures, global temperatures are actually cooling, and have been for 10-12 years. In other words, the Hockey Stick is broken. (Temporary) Global Cooling is seeing increasing acceptance among some in the Climate Change community, but they remain True Believers in Anthropogenic Global Warming. This cooling trend is causing some consternation. Please click here for the rest of the post.
At a time when the unemployment rate is nearing double-digits, President Obama’s OSHA nominee, David Michaels, threatens to be an occupational hazard. He’s also a radical. Conservatives who were outraged by Van Jones should be apoplectic about his tenure when they consider that — according to their website — OSHA “inspected 38,579 workplaces during Fiscal Year 2006.” David Michaels was behind the junk-science efforts to smear Bisphenol A (BPA) , an innovative chemical used to make plastics stronger. . . . Michaels sees even the 2nd Amendment as a work-place “regulatory” issue where he might, as head of OSHA, intervene. Please click here for the rest of the post.
