AP Reports Gang of Ten to be Sweet Sixteen

News update: Six senators will join the Gang of 10.

The Associated Press reports that three Democratic and three Republican senators will join the senate’s Gang of 10 to work for a bipartisan solution to offshore drilling. The Gang of 10 currently supports a bill "that would lift a ban on oil and natural gas drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and off the southeastern U.S. coast, invest $20 billion in the development of petroleum-free motor vehicles and extend tax credits for renewable energy."

The newcomers are Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.), Sen. John Sununu (R-N.H.), Sen. John Warner (R-Va.), Sen. Tim Johnson (D-S.D.), Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.), and Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Colo.).
