To paraphrase what Churchill said about the Soviet Union: Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, background and fairy-tale image is a puzzle wrapped in a fiction inside a mythology. The voters of Pennsylvania began unraveling the mystery candidate and found the Left’s emperor was without clothes.
Obama out spent Hillary three-to-one only to get whipped in the Pennsylvania primary by a double–digit margin. Those Bible and gun-clinging people of the Keystone state refused his evasions and apologies that Obama and his media amen chorus have been papering our eyes and flooding our ears with for more than a year.
Obama’s stage cry of “yes we can” (referring to his “change” mantra) reminds me of Dorothy clicking her heels and saying, “there’s no place like home.” Obama has turned his “change” slogan into a self-limiting set of talking points. He seems unable to go beyond them. But it’s not enough, and the voters of the upcoming primaries in North Carolina and Indiana will be laying in wait.
Issues close to the voters’ hearts matter. In Pennsylvania they sat in those same duck blinds Obama made fun of and shot him down for not doing things expected of national politicians today, such as wearing an American flag lapel pin. His conjurer’s spin about a twenty-year friendship with anti-American bigoted minister Rev. Wright fooled no one. His “answer” was a deception, an evasion and opened him to many more questions he’s equally uncomfortable with.
Voters might not always tell the truth to pollsters, but behind that voting booth curtain the Pennsylvania gun and bible-clingers fired a shot heard round the world (or at least throughout the Democratic Party). It was the quiet people of faith toting their multi-generational family Bibles, seething that this man patronized them in the circles of San Francisco elites who look with disdain on “fly over” Americans between New York and the West Coast.
Will the voters of Indiana and North Carolina take their marching orders to forget about Obama’s past, saying it’s all just a right wing guilt-by-association campaign? Or, will they begin to see a pattern of associations of the guilty, wondering just how much more dirty laundry and anti-Americans are hiding behind his toothy smile.
Obama’s media mavens—such as Chris Matthews and the CNN news crew—wilt at the suggestion that they even question Obama’s association with unrepentant Weather Underground terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. The voters of the next two primary states and the voters in the November general election won’t forgive and forget so easily.
While Pennsylvania was busy ignoring Obama’s advertising attempts to rebuild his mystique, Obama has been furiously digging himself another political grave. In the last debate he said, “The notion that somehow, as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was eight years old, somehow reflects on me and my values doesn’t make much sense.”
Contrary to Obama’s canned excuse, those detestable acts by the Weather Undergound weren’t 40 years ago. On October 20, 1981 the`Weather Underground coordinated a robbery where two police officers and one Brinks guard were killed. That planned attack occurred when Obama was 20 years old, not 8.
No amount of spin made sense out of Obama sitting complicity and listening to the garbage spouted by Rev. Wright. Wright’s “patriotic” phrase, “God d**n America!” was probably cheered on by Ayers and Dohrn, Obama’s associates and enemies of the United State of America.
There is no excuse and no justification for Obama’s long-term association with these two home grown terrorists. Even though Obama has quipped, “I think the American people are tired of these political games and petty distractions,” the voters have spoken. These issues aren’t petty. Obama has many questions to answer about his own games, not the least of which is how Ayers and Dohrn participated in his political emergence. They were there at the beginning. Why did they choose him, and why did he let them?
The “yes we can” man launched his political career in the home of “yes I planted bombs and proud of it” neighbor Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn’s house in 1995.
Was his “community organizing” centered only on organizing to get himself anointed by Illinois State Senator Alice Palmer as her successor? What help, advice and campaign funds did Obama accept from Ayers, Dohrn and their ilk?
Ayers and his cohorts liked Obama so much that they contributed money and support to his campaign. How much? This is no right-wing bogeyman story. The Obama-Ayers association has been more than casual as Bloomberg News Reported. You can’t hang out, publicly praise a terrorist’s writings and serve for years on foundation boards together if there’s not a relationship there.
Terrorist bombers and their political sympathizers who hang together should be publicly hung together by their own words, deeds and actions.
Judge them by their words and deeds. The Weather Underground got their name because they took to hiding to “commit strategic acts of sabotage against the government”- the same government Obama wants to run. But after years in hiding and dozens of acts of terrorism, Bill Ayers published a self-praising book, “Fugitive Days.” In this collection of anti-American memories, Ayers bragged that he was part of the 1970’s terrorist bombing campaign of the New York City Police Headquarters, the U.S. Capitol Building and the Pentagon. Ayer’s also began this book with the line: “Memory is a mother f***ker, I myself remember nothing.”
Seems Obama and Ayers share more in common than we thought.
But even though Ayer’s wishes to forget his dirty deeds, close your eyes and think back to that moment you saw the two airliners crashing into the Twin Towers. Then try and find a way to forgive and forget Ayers, who stood up on the same day of infamy and said to the New York Times, “I don’t regret setting bombs, I feel we didn’t do enough.”
What’s scarier than Ayers’ unapologetic criminality is his hand in our country’s educational future. Ayers is the vice president of curriculum for the American Educational Research Association and would like nothing better than to have his underground anti-American visions become a reality in our nation’s schools. As the left’s golden “education president,” Obama needs to have his feet held to the fire- do you agree with Ayers’ socialist reading list and liberal indoctrination plans?
There is a lot more Ayers has said and much more that Obama should be pressed on.
Dinitia Smith of the New York wrote on September 11, 2001 that Ayers summed up the Weatherman philosophy as, “Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents, that’s where it’s really at.” I guess it’s alright for Ayers to cling to his bombs and memories of trying to destroy this country but not alright for Americans to cling to their Bibles.
Just like Obama’s wife hasn’t been proud of her country until recently, she surely gets along fine with her neighbor and supporter, Bernardine Dohrn, Ayer’s terrorist jailbird wife, who probably doesn’t bake cookies.
The woman who made the F.B.I.’s 10 Most Wanted List said after the brutal Manson Family murders told an S.D.S. audience in 1969: “Dig it! Manson killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, then they shoved a fork into a victim’s stomach.”
But that was when Obama was just eight years old. Dohrn is quoted by the New York Times, “It was a joke.” Some joke.
Obama’s Stepford crowds shout “Yes, We Can” and they’re right. Yes we can hold Obama accountable for his associations with unrepentant terrorists. Yes we can tell the voters of America the disgusting words of praise for bombing America and celebrating maniacal killers. Yes we can condemn him for associating with the radical bomber Bill Ayers and for selling his soul to launch his political career in the living room of a demonic woman who reveled in the blood of the Manson murders.
Yes we can demand Obama take up Hillary’s request for an unmoderated debate and ignore his excuses to avoid answering the questions that matter most. Yes we can condemn Obama’s telling mistakes and block his road to Pennsylvania Avenue, one exposed fact at a time.
