Egregious Earmark of the Week: $140,000 for Opera House in Ohio

This week Rep. Jeff Flake (R.-Ariz.) points out a pile of pork wedged into the Interior & Environment appropriations bill (H.R. 2361) for fiscal year 2006.

The egregious earmark award goes to the state of Ohio this time around for its collection of $140,000 for the Woodward Opera House.

"Pork projects like this defy Carmen-sense," said Flake.

The bill easily made its way through the House, 410-10, on July 28, as well as the Senate, 99-1, on July 29. President Bush signed the bill into law on August 2.
