I just got back from the Capitol which is now locked down as Capitol Police investigate the sounds of gunfire in the garage of the Rayburn Office Building.
Shots were reported to be heard around 10:30 a.m. in Rayburn, an office building for House members on Capitol Hill.
Staff members were advised to stay in their offices and tourists were being held and blocked from advancing staff-led tours.
Lock down went into action while I was in the congressional subway that travels between the Capitol and Senate offices. In the Capitol basement tourists were being kept on trams and Capitol Police were running towards the Capitol from the long underground tunnels are connected to Senate House offices.
The Capitol building was reopened and accessible at 11:10 a.m.
