Two veteran defense analysts released a new book this week that offers riveting evidence that China is marching down a military collision course with the United States. Aptly coinciding with the Pentagon’s own report today, Jed Babbin, former deputy undersecretary of defense, and Ed Timperlake, best-selling author and defense analyst, warn World War III with China is much more likely a question of "when" rather than "if."
In Showdown: Why China Wants War with the United States, Babbin and Timperlake reveal the latest developments in China’s quest to become a superpower. They further map out likely conflicts that could easily escalate into global war. The authors unveil China’s aggressive military buildup (more rapid than that of Nazi Germany before WWII) and expose how China is engaging in a new Cold War aimed at expanding its commercial and military reach at the expense of the United States.
For example, the book details:
1. How China is infiltrating Latin America — including oil-rich Venezuela– to create an anti-American axis;
2. The vulnerability of Japan and the U.S. to Chinese cyber-warfare; and
3. The alliance between Communist China and radical Islam.
Author Babbin notes, "Showdown is a warning that China’s rise, if not answered by new alliances and a new strategy of containment, will probably lead to global war."
