When Caspar Weinberger died on Tuesday, Republican officials and conservative publications across the nation noted the passing of the Reagan Defense Secretary. Nancy Reagan said of Weinberger that, "His legacy is a strong and free America, and for this and for a lifetime of selfless service, a grateful nation thanks him."
But there has not been any public statement from K.T. McFarland, who was Weinberger's speechwriter and deputy assistant secretary of defense for public affairs.
Is this due to a disorganized campaign, or is she just so overcome with grief that she can't say anything about the man for whom she worked?
