Taking a page from the book of Ronald Reagan, who did regular nationwide radio commentaries from 1976-79 before running for President in 1980, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R.-Ga.) last week started a series of 90-second radio commentaries.
"Winning the Future with Newt Gingrich," as the broadcasts are called, will be syndicated by Matrix Media of Chicago to 350 radio stations nationwide.
"Nothing is off limits," says a statement from Gingrich's publicist, who promises he will address topics ranging from "breaking the bureaucratic grip on our health care system, to resisting the effort to write God out of American history, to defending America in the long war against Islamic terrorism."
