There was a good article in the Washington Post today that alerted me to a new website that tracks members of Congress.
The site GovTrack.us, is a little difficult to navigate (better than Thomas.loc.gov though)and has a feature similar to LexisNexis’ personal news tracker that will moniter selected members or issues.Govtrack.us will give you House and Senate voting records and links to opensecrets.org’s campaign finance data. Govtrack will also email you when selected representatives or senators vote, make speeches or when a given issue has activity.
The site’s founder, Joshua Tauberer is a grad student at the University of Pennsylvania. He said he created Govtrack.us because he "saw that there was a lot of information on legislation already out there on the Internet, but it wasn’t in a form that’s useful for everyday people to use."
Well done, Josh. I can’t wait to start tracking.
