Today Democratic Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell said the Senate should confirm Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. Rendell said Democrats need to elect one of their own president of the United States if they want to have a say over who sits on the high court.
This marks the second time in life I agree with Rendell on something. The first was when, as Democratic National Committee chairman, he told Al Gore to throw in the towel during the disputed election of 2000. Rendell's words - that Gore "should act now and concede" - did more damage to Gore than anything then-candidate George W. Bush could say.
