Peter Schmidt reported for the Chronicle of Higher Education that as part of her role in the late 1990’s a member of the advisory board for the Southern Methodist University law school Harriet Miers brought leftist “role models” to campus to speak on gender and women’s issues.
Schmidt wrote Miers advocated, donated and solicited funds for a campus lecture series to bring feminists to campus like Gloria Steinem, former Democratic congresswoman Patricia S.Schroeder and Gwen Ifill to campus to “expands students' opportunities to hear and interact with nationally renowned speakers in the area of women's studies," the schools site says, "as well as strengthens intellectual ties between the university and the greater community."
