The Republican Study Committee (RSC) is taking steps to increase its membership in the House through a political action committee designed to permanently entrench conservatives as the dominant force among House Republicans.
Rep. Ernest Istook (R.-Okla.) will lead the House Conservatives Fund. Its first fund-raiser is April 26 on Capitol Hill. The RSC boasts more than 100 members-countering liberal GOP organizations such as the Tuesday Group and Republican Main Street Partnership. "The Main Street Partnership has been involved in elections for several years," Istook told The Hill. "This would be the conservative counterpart." The PAC is another indicator of the energetic RSC chairmanship of Rep. Mike Pence (R.-Ind.).
