Winston-Salem City Councilman Vernon Robinson, the outspoken black conservative, lost his bid for the Republican nomination in North Carolina's 5th U.S, congressional District- the seat being vacated by Rep. Richard Burr (R.-N.C.) as he runs for Senate.
Robinson lost by ten points in an August 17 primary runoff against State Sen. Virginia Foxx (R.). Foxx, who is only slightly less conservative (but far less outspoken) than Robinson, is a lock to win in November.
