Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo) has recently been a source of consternation among House Republicans because "Team America," a PAC he founded, has targeted Republican incumbents it deems soft on immigration policy.
According to The Hill, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) reminded Tancredo of the importance of Party loyalty during a recent meeting. The Hill wrote that DeLay??¢â???¬â???¢s message was essentially: "Play nice with your Republican colleagues or you??¢â???¬â???¢re going to remain stuck in your lowly committee positions."
Tancredo said that, while he created the PAC this spring, he severed his ties with it and no longer has a say in which campaigns it supports.
Angela "Bay" Buchanan, sister of Pat Buchanan, and chairman of the PAC, said, "We still call it his PAC. He??¢â???¬â???¢s the founder, so we use his name on the website." However, she noted that Tancredo is "not officially involved" and "makes no decisions."
