Rev. Al Sharpton joined Sen. John Kerry on the campaign trail Thursday, the AP has reported. While Sharpton had been critical of Vermont Gov. Howard Dean for not having a diverse administration, he declined to throw that same charge at Kerry, preferring to present a united front.
"Now's the time for the team to come together and win. Why are we raising those issues that we should have discussed in January in June?" Sharpton said.
The AP noted that he went so far as to compare Kerry favorably to former President Bill Clinton. "I've seen as much diversity or more around Kerry than I did around Clinton in '92. And they say he was the first black president," Sharpton said. "So, I mean, what are we talking about?"
