Former Vice President Al Gore, whose last major public appearance was an endorsement of Howard Dean, emerged from obscurity May 26 to make an endorsement of John Kerry at a New York meeting of MoveOn.org.
Still in the Dean mode, Gore ranted and raged. "Donald Rumsfeld, as the chief architect of the war plan, should resign today," shouted Gore. "His deputies Paul Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith and his intelligence chief Stephen Cambone should also resign....Condoleezza Rice, who has badly mishandled the coordination of national security policy, should also resign immediately." MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, no conservative, wryly remarked: "In the heat of the moment, he also asked Laura Bush to resign."
