Islamist pool party at the US Embassy in Tripoli
While Barack Obama talks about “managing” the problem of ISIS in Iraq, the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli is under new management by a different group of Islamist thugs. The U.S. media did their beloved President an enormous favor by almost completely ceasing coverage of Libya as it degenerated into chaos, reporting only with great reluctance on the part of this titanic Obama failure that most directly impacted Americans, the murder of the U.S. Ambassador and three others at the consulate in Benghazi on September 11, 2012.
Now Tripoli itself has fallen, and the forces that sacked that Benghazi consulate have seized the American embassy itself. Fortunately, it was evacuated some time ago, so no American lives were lost. The State Department is being highly evasive about the status of the embassy compound. They could no longer deny the Islamist takeover after the militias began circulating videos of themselves enjoying a dip in the pool, including some fun high dives from the second-story balcony of the adjoining structure, but State doggedly insists that only the “annex” has fallen, but they think the “compound” itself is still secure… although they’re not really sure, because the situation is “fluid.”
You can say that again. Here, watch the soldiers of Allah cannonball into the fluid of America’s swimming pool, after checking out the weight room and well-appointed bedrooms. Whee!
Guess what else the new Islamist masters of Tripoli captured? A dozen commercial airliners, which were parked on the tarmac when they seized the airport. Bill Gertz at the Washington Free Beacon writes that fears have been raised of 9/11-style suicide attacks using these planes:
Intelligence reports of the stolen jetliners were distributed within the U.S. government over the past two weeks and included a warning that one or more of the aircraft could be used in an attack later this month on the date marking the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against New York and Washington, said U.S. officials familiar with the reports.
“There are a number of commercial airliners in Libya that are missing,” said one official. “We found out on September 11 what can happen with hijacked planes.”
The official said the aircraft are a serious counterterrorism concern because reports of terrorist control over the Libyan airliners come three weeks before the 13th anniversary of 9/11 attacks and the second anniversary of the Libyan terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi.
So who are these guys? Well, you’ve got Libyan Dawn, a known affiliate of al-Qaeda, and then there’s Ansar al-Sharia, the gang that pulled off what the Obama Administration furiously labored to misrepresent as a spontaneous protest against an insulting YouTube video in Benghazi… a group with direct ties to ISIS. According to the Daily Mail, a third group called the “Masked Men Brigade” has control of the planes at the Tripoli airport. (That’s a most unhelpful choice of name. They’re all brigades of masked men, aren’t they?)
Moroccan military expert Abderrahmane Mekkaoui told Al Jazeera television after the airport attack that the planes had been taken by another Islamic group, the Masked Men Brigade.
Mekkaoui said there is ‘credible intelligence’ that the Masked Men Brigade ‘is plotting to use the planes in attacks on the Maghreb state’ on the 9/11 anniversary.
Sebastian Gorka, a counterterrorism expert, told the Free-Beacon that the planes could be used in two ways to strike North Africa or even as far as the oil fields of Saudi Arabia.
‘The first would be how commercial airliners were used on Sept 11, 2001, literally turning an innocent mode of mass transit into a super-high precision guided missile of immense potency,’ Gorka, the Maj Gen Charles Horner chair at the Marine Corps University, said.
‘The second tactic could be to use the airframe with its civilian markings as a tool of deception to insert a full payload of armed terrorists into a locale that otherwise is always open to commercial carriers,’ he added.
Up with this situation Egypt will not put, now that they’re free of the Muslim Brotherhood government Obama saddled them with, so they’re reportedly planning significant ground action against the Libyan terror gangs, perhaps with a few more American attack helicopters in their inventory. If we’re going to “contain” and “manage” ISIS, we’ll have to contain their allies too, won’t we? Couldn’t we at least have rigged the U.S. Embassy swimming pool to fill up with acid or piranha after the facility was abandoned?
Update: Perhaps this wasn’t the best time for the Administration to lift the 31-year ban on Libyans attending U.S. flight schools and studying nuclear science.
