The real Forever War, Part 5
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency’s see-no-evil mentality has had tragic, and indeed deadly, consequences time-after-time. At east three UNWRA schools have been publicly shown (proven) to have been ammunition magazines. An UNRWA clinic was an entrance way for one of the significant attack tunnels, and in addition was booby-trapped. Three sappers were killed trying to disarm the bombs and then UNWRA blamed Israel for killing civilians that were also killed in the blast. Several soldiers have been wounded, and at least one killed by concentrated firing from UNRWA installations. A school in Bet Hanoun, where refugees from the fighting had fled, was also used as a Hamas firing position, both against troops and for firing rockets at Israeli civilians. In this last one, some of the details remain unclear – however, an explosion killed at least 16 children. Once again, UNRWA instantly blamed Israel for the deaths, and no journalist dares to question this because any that do are shot by Hamas. An Israeli investigation shows, apparently clearly, that another Hamas-fired rocket that fell short (once again, at least a quarter of the more than 3,000 rockets they fire have fallen within the Gaza Strip). For this one, even UNRWA has changed its claims slightly and now ‘claims it does not know who was responsible’. And if any believe that, I have a lovely bridge to talk about.
Here is a photograph of UNWRA supplies inside a Hamas attack tunnel. As previously reported here, the concrete for the tunnels was ordered on UNRWA Purchase Orders and paid for with UNWRA funds.
Another UNRWA school UN Relief & Works Agency, in Rafah was hit and 10 Palestinian civilians were killed and dozens more wounded. US State Department Spokeswoman Jen Psaki immediately condemned Israel, saying, “The United States is appalled by today’s disgraceful [attack] outside a UNRWA school in Rafah sheltering some 3,000 displaced persons, in which at least 10 more Palestinian civilians were tragically killed … We once again stress that Israel do more to meet its own standards and avoid civilian casualties.”
Let’s make this very clear. I am appalled, and every person with active gray matter between their ears should share this feeling, at the unprofessional and irresponsible action of Jen Psaki, and her immediate resignation should be demanded.
ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, “Israel has received massive condemnation, including from the Obama Administration over this incident – condemnation that appeared even before the facts in the case were established. Now, after two days, it appears that Israel was correct when it said that it fired at terrorists outside the school and that it did not strike the school directly. It also appears that at least some of the dead bodies shown on television were placed there by Hamas after the event and may not have been killed by Israel action at all. President Obama should immediately retract the astonishing condemnation uttered by the State Department over the weekend. It would have been bad enough to make this condemnation even if Israel had inadvertently struck the school.”
It is unprofessional to “condemn” an ally without checking facts. She took facts that she was force-fed by Hamas (who wants her dead, as well) and regurgitated them undigested. We now KNOW the incident was staged by Hamas, exactly because they knew they would get this result! Shame on State!
Dead bodies were moved by Hamas from outside the school to inside its courtyard to mislead people into believing that the school itself had been hit. The body of a small girl was added to the pile of adult bodies to make it look as if all the deaths came from the school, then was later removed, leaving doubt as to whether she was in fact killed at all. Bodies of two dead men photographed outside the school were also later shown inside the school courtyard, indicating they too were moved.
How much of this deception is UNRWA and how much is Hamas is a moot point, because THEY ARE ONE AND THE SAME in Gaza of today. UNRWA is a major part of the problem and is no part of the solution.
Military data indicates that between some 900 terrorists were killed in Operation Protective Edge. At least 253 of them were Hamas operatives. Gazans fired 3,360 rockets at Israel, 584 of which were intercepted by Iron Dome and about a quarter of them landed inside Gaza Strip territory. As the Quran says, “Allah knows his own.” Some 115 projectiles hit populated areas in Israel, and 2,542 rockets exploded in open areas. Combined, Israel’s air and ground forces launched 4,762 strikes against terrorist targets in Gaza.
Israel withdrew all forces from the Gaza Strip by 8 am Tuesday, when the 72-hour cease-fire declared on Monday evening went into effect. A cease-fire that Hamas has already announced will be null and void as of 8 am Friday, when they intend to reassume full firing. They have about 3,000 rockets left in their arsenal.
Hamas published a Manual for Urban Warfare that we captured (pictured below).
In a portion entitled “Limiting the Use of Weapons,” the manual explains that:
The soldiers and commanders (of the IDF) must limit their use of weapons and tactics that lead to the harm and unnecessary loss of people and [destruction of] civilian facilities. It is difficult for them to get the most use out of their firearms, especially of supporting fire [e.g. artillery].
Hamas knows Israel limits weapons’ use to avoid harming civilians. We refrain from heavy firepower infantry support.
The Urban Warfare manual explains that the “presence of civilians are pockets of resistance” that cause three major problems for advancing IDF ground units:
(1) Problems with opening fire
(2) Assurance of supplying medical care to civilians who need it
(3) Problems in controlling the civilian population during operations and afterward
It is clear that Hamas actually desires homes and civilian infrastructure destruction, knowing it will increase hatred for the IDF and support their fighters on the part of the “civilians” (i.e., the innocents) as well as garnering support from the reckless and irresponsible, such as Psaki.
The manual discusses the benefits for Hamas when civilian homes are destroyed:
The destruction of civilian homes: This increases the hatred of the citizens towards the attackers [the IDF] and increases their gathering [support] around the city defenders (resistance forces [i.e. Hamas]).
Why Shuja’iya is Important
The manual was found in Shujawiya, the neighbourhood in Gaza City that was a major hotspot of Hamas infrastructure, with myriad fortifications. As some readers may recall from previous articles, I myself, fought there, in the same neighbourhood, 44 years ago.
It is quite important that this manual belongs to the Shuja’iya Brigade. The IDF fought a massive battle in the neighborhood of Shuja’iya. This area was traditionally a place where ‘historical’ residents of Gaza lived – those that were residents since before the time of the Oslo Debacle brought the terrorists and criminals from Tunis. Why did Hamas choose this area to turn into a terrorist stronghold and fortress? Because they hate the people there as much as they the people hate Hamas. However, UNRWA, the UN and the US have forced these criminals upon them, and the gangsters have all the guns.
The discovery of this manual is clear indication that destruction of Shuja’iya was always part of Hamas’ plan.
Strike another success for URWA.
