The week that was

The week that was

Springtime is the land awakening. The March winds are the morning yawn. -Lewis Grizzard

This week was full of gay news. Like even more than a typical day at Buzzfeed. In Texas, a federal judge struck down the ban on same-sex marriage. In Arizona, Republican Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed a law that would have allowed “private businesses to cite religious beliefs as a defense against lawsuits over discriminatory treatment.” Now during lawsuits, private businesses can cite “I’m gay” to justify discriminatory treatment.

Protests in Ukraine have been mounting. Having dominated in the Winter Olympics, the Russians have decided to try their luck at conquering the Ukrainian Crimea.

A court in California ruled that a school is allowed to ban American flag shirts on Cinco de Mayo. Do they know that May 5, 1961 is the anniversary of the first American in space? No word on whether Bajoran Wormhole flag shirts will be permitted.

Lois Lerner, IRS ringleader responsible for making conservative groups’ existence a living hell, is being recalled by Darrell Issa and company for further investigation. She retired just not quite soon enough.

Alec Baldwin is retiring from the spotlight. For this, he is being called a “drama queen” by some. Now is he were the drama king, he might have a chance at an Oscar!
