In a newly released ad by the presidential campaign of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is blasted for supporting liberal climate change causes.
Called, “Newt and Nancy”, the video replays Gingrich’s infamous appearance with former Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on a couch, where the two talk about stopping climate change.
The video also says that when Al Gore needed help with his climate change agenda he turned to Pelosi, but when that “wasn’t enough,” he got a little help from Gingrich.
Romney has stepped up the attacks on Gingrich since Gingrich started surging in the polls. Gingrich, however, has gone out of his way to tell his campaign team to run a positive race, with a unifying message. Gingrich even fired one of his Iowa staffers that called Mormonism a “cult”.
While Gingrich has told his team to go positive, this has not prevented himself from taking jabs at Romney himself. In response to Romney saying that Gingrich should return the money he received from consulting Freddie Mac, Gingrich said that Romney should return money to people who worked with Romney’s former company, Bain Capital.
“I would just say that if Gov. Romney would like to give back all the money he’s earned from bankrupting companies and laying off employees over his years at Bain that I would be glad to then listen to him. I’ll bet you $10, not $10,000,” said Gingrich.
