Rick Santorum Puts First Ad Of Cycle On Air

Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, a staunch social conservative whose candidacy is still a bit of a long shot though he has won some early straw polls in South Carolina, put the first advertisment of the 2012 cycle on air with this radio ad.

The one-minute radio ad will start to run this weekend in the early primary states and on satellite radio.

In the ad, the socially conservative Senator pivots to fiscal concerns and says the nation’s founders would be “astounded” if they knew “we were borrowing money to provide for people today and charge the next generation for the excesses” of today’s generation.

“The promise we have to the next generation is to hand off America in better shape than it was handed to us,” Santorum says in the radio ad.

Santorum also called the national debt “immmoral,” linking fiscal concerns to language more associated with his socially conservative persona.

Santorum will also appear on “Meet The Press” this Sunday before participating in the New Hampshire debate on Monday, which will air on CNN.
