Derailing Elena Obama
The main opportunity for knocking Elena Kagan’s Supreme Court nomination off its rails comes from her inextricable ties to Barack Obama and his liberal agenda.
If you think America has gone down hill in the last eighteen months, can you imagine the same agenda aggressively pushed forward from the Supreme Court for another 40 years?
Translating conservatives’ extensive concerns about Kagan into one simple message is essential for the message to resonate from coast to coast.
Simply put, Kagan is Obama; her agenda is his, and for decades to come.
To appreciate their ideological singularity, one need only listen to Kagan’s remarks about then Senator Obama during a 2005 Harvard Law School dinner.
“It’s that passion for service, you know, that commitment, to be of use, to give back, to make a real difference in the world. That’s what makes Barack Obama Barack Obama. And that [sic] what makes Barack Obama for me, and so many others, a hero.”
American confidence in the President’s leadership has reached an all time low and is continuing to fall. According to Rasmussen Reports last week, only 28% say the country is headed in the right direction.
An overwhelming majority of our fellow citizens are truly worried about the economy and are focused on keeping their jobs. And, most are fearful about the government’s takeover of healthcare and its impact on their families.
Obama’s continued failure to help resolve the oil spill has further tarred his administration, gratuitously wrecking the gulf economy and environment in the process.
Countless Americans are needlessly suffering because of the ruinous policies of the Obama administration and the Pelosi-Reid congress. Yet, amid the pervasive climate of chaos, too many will let the Kagan hearings pass by unopposed unless we clearly and concisely demonstrate that a senator’s vote for Kagan will stretch our current misery well beyond the next generation.
Only 35% of likely voters, again per Rasmussen, believe the 50-year-old Kagan should replace Associate Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, who is retiring at age 90 after thirty-five years on the court.
42% oppose Kagan’s confirmation.
If Kagan’s confirmation is to be stopped, conservatives must reach beyond the purview of our normal public policy concerns, and ask all dissatisfied Americans to take a moment from their busy lives to share a simple message with their senators. Namely, Obama’s policies are destroying our economy, our national security, our environment, our future. Elena Kagan cannot be permitted to permanently enthrone the Obama agenda on the Supreme Court.
As Ronald Reagan reminds us, “Freedom is not something to be secured in any one moment of time. We must struggle to preserve it every day. And freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”
In the last 18 months, the president and his plotting comrades have dragged the United States to the edge of Constitutional oblivion. America’s in the eleventh hour, and Elena Obama must be stopped from pushing us over the cliff.
America’s had enough of “the eloquence, the magnetism, the great looks, the brilliance.”
It’s time to take our country back.
