HUMAN EVENTS and her sister company Regnery have been offering a free chapter from Richard Miniter's newest book, Disinformation. This chapter details some of the WMDs and chemical agents for WMDs that have been found in Iraq. Granted it isn’t the huge stockpiles that were expected, but there is enough there to be disturbing.
Anyway, the free chapter promotion has raised considerable ire among liberals. Below is an excerpted exchange I had with one “balanced” liberal (BL). The e-mails contained quite a bit of the usual Angry Left railings so I won’t include them here, but here are the interesting tidbits.
BL: What a crock! WMD found in Iraq?!? Who the hell do you think you're kidding?!? ... and your ringing support of that dolt and liar is proof that you are no better and no more worthy of respect than he. So stick THAT in your political hats! The only thing any publication you put out would be good for is toilet paper!
AR: Attached is the chapter that details the WMD material that has been found in Iraq. If you have facts to refute the information here, please let us know. That would certainly be newsworthy and we would report it. I’ll even send you a complimentary copy of the book, which includes the sources, for your review. Just send me your mailing address.
BL: No, I do not wish a copy of your rag. The facts remain that even BUSH and HIS PEOPLE had to admit that there were NO WMD found in Iraq. … The difference between your readers and me is simply this; I get my news from MANY different sources ... liberal AND conservative. I like to make up my own mind as to what is factual and what isn't.
AR: You have yet to present any evidence to support your claims, or any to refute ours. You claim to read conservative media, great, so why won’t you accept a free copy of the book? It sounds like you have already made up your mind, whatever the facts.
BL: Yes, my mind IS made up. We were lied to about every single aspect of the Iraq war from the very beginning. … We have now lost 2,123 brave soldiers for WHAT? A LIE! GREED! OIL PROFITS! POLITICAL GAIN! This is sickening, and if you support this war, YOU are sickening! So scream about what "proof" you have. Until I see YOUR president quoting it as fact, it is nothing more than ramblings from a person seeking to exploit the weakminded [sic] and easily led. You should be ashamed of yourself.
So let me get this straight. He won’t accept evidence about WMDs found in Iraq, unless it comes from President Bush, who he doesn’t believe anyways and thinks is a liar.
