It took him nearly nine months, but Sen. John Kerry (D.-Mass.) finally said on January 30 that he would sign the Pentagon's Standard Form 180, allowing the military to independently release all his files and medical records.
Tim Russert, host of NBC's "Meet the Press," pressed the question on Kerry, who at first tried to avoid giving a direct answer. "Would you sign Form 180?" Russert finally asked. "Yes, I will," Kerry responded. Kerry's spokesman didn't return a message from HUMAN EVENTS inquiring if and when Kerry would actually put his signature on the form. During his presidential bid last year, the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth asked Kerry to sign Form 180 at a May 4 press conference. He didn't, and they launched a devastating campaign of their own against him.
