While the President has given no specific time for naming the national intelligence director recommended by the 9/11 Commission, speculation has been brewing that Bush's choice for the Cabinet-level spot will be Frances Townsend, now presidential adviser on Homeland Security. Formerly a prosecutor under Rudy Giuliani and former FBI Director Louis Freeh, Townsend won high marks for her briefing at the White House on the 9-11 report and her subsequent appearances on national TV talk shows.
