Video appears to show alleged foreigner knocked down after trying to kidnap a child in Dublin

A video posted to X appears to show an alleged foreigner who had been knocked down by locals after attempting to kidnap a child in Dublin, Ireland.

The videos and images were posted by Irish independent journalist Michael O'Keeffe (username @mick_o_keeffe) with the caption: "Foreigner laid out in Dublin by local lads after trying to snatch a child. This is an anxious time for the people of Ireland after 3 kids were stabbed by an Algerian immigrant a few months ago, an attempted kidnapping and attempted rape a few days."

One video shows a man dressed in dark clothing lying flat on his back in the middle of a busy sidewalk, while the other shows the man being escorted away by police holding his arms.

Another video posted by O'Keeffe with the caption "Proof he is foreign" shows the same man attempting to explain away his actions to angry onlookers shouting at him. He has a noticeably thick accent.

"What are you picking up the kids for?" a woman is heard yelling.

"She's my, uh, she's my [inaudible]," he responds.

The off-camera woman goes on to say "they're not your kids!" and "you can't touch kids!" as the suspect looks defeated.

The Irish Examiner reported that a man in his 20s had been arrested last Thursday for attempting to abduct a 2-year-old child outside of a home while yelling "I want the baby." According to the report, locals intervened and held the suspect while waiting for authorities to arrive.

As O'Keeffe explained in his initial post, locals have been on high alert in the Irish capital after an Algerian immigrant allegedly stabbed three children and a school teacher in a random attack last November.
